In line with our mission to advance AI technology and make it accessible and beneficial to everyone, we are excited to introduce our newest model, GPT-4o. Additionally, we are rolling out more intelligent and advanced tools to ChatGPT for free, ensuring that everyone can benefit from the latest advancements in artificial intelligence.

Unveiling GPT-4o: The Next Generation of AI

GPT-4o is our latest flagship model, designed to deliver GPT-4-level intelligence with significantly improved speed and capabilities across text, voice, and vision. This model sets a new standard in AI technology, offering enhanced understanding and discussion capabilities for the images you share. For instance, GPT-4o can translate a picture of a menu in a different language, provide insights into the food's history and significance, and offer personalized recommendations.

Looking ahead, GPT-4o will support more natural, real-time voice conversations and enable interactions with ChatGPT via real-time video. Imagine showing ChatGPT a live sports game and having it explain the rules to you. We plan to launch a new Voice Mode featuring these capabilities in an alpha version within the coming weeks, with early access for Plus users before a broader rollout.

GPT-4o also excels in language capabilities, offering improved quality and speed. ChatGPT now supports over 50 languages across sign-up, login, user settings, and more. This expansion ensures that advanced AI is more accessible and useful worldwide.

We are beginning the rollout of GPT-4o to ChatGPT Plus and Team users, with availability for Enterprise users on the horizon. Additionally, ChatGPT Free users will gain access to GPT-4o with usage limits starting today. Plus users will enjoy a message limit up to five times greater than free users, while Team and Enterprise users will benefit from even higher limits.

Bringing Advanced AI Tools to Everyone

Our commitment to making advanced AI tools widely available remains steadfast. Each week, over a hundred million people use ChatGPT. In line with our mission, we are introducing more intelligence and advanced tools to ChatGPT Free users over the coming weeks.

Free users will now have access to several features powered by GPT-4o, including:

- GPT-4 Level Intelligence: Experience the advanced capabilities of GPT-4o.
- Model and Web Responses: Receive comprehensive responses from both the model and the web.
- Data Analysis and Chart Creation: Analyze data and create insightful charts.
- Photo Chat: Discuss photos you take with ChatGPT.
- File Uploads: Summarize, write, or analyze content from uploaded files.
- GPTs and GPT Store: Discover and use custom GPTs and explore the GPT Store.
- Memory: Build a more personalized and helpful experience with memory features.

While there will be a limit on the number of messages free users can send with GPT-4o, ChatGPT will automatically switch to GPT-3.5 once the limit is reached, allowing users to continue their conversations seamlessly.

Streamlining Workflow with the New Desktop App

To enhance the user experience for both free and paid users, we are launching a new ChatGPT desktop app for macOS. This app integrates seamlessly with your workflow, enabling you to ask ChatGPT questions instantly using a simple keyboard shortcut (Option + Space). You can also take and discuss screenshots directly within the app.

The desktop app supports voice conversations, starting with the Voice Mode available at launch. With GPT-4o’s new audio and video capabilities coming soon, you will be able to brainstorm ideas, prepare for interviews, or discuss topics in depth. Simply tap the headphone icon in the bottom right corner of the app to start a voice conversation.

The macOS app is rolling out to Plus users today, with broader availability in the coming weeks. A Windows version is also planned for release later this year.

In addition to these powerful new features, we are introducing a new look and feel for ChatGPT. This redesign aims to make the interface more user-friendly and conversational, with a refreshed home screen, updated message layout, and more.
